Those moments in life

YOU don't have to zoom in. - N. Sridharan

Scenario 1: Your friends are on a trip to Goa and you are caught in a conference in boring old Bangalore. You really miss it, and wish you could find out what they are doing at that moment in time.

Scenario 2: You've been on a busy overseas trip and couldn't get to see any of the highlights, nothing at all. But you know Kuala Lumpur means good seafood and eating with chopsticks and you don't have a single photo to show for it! Waymarkr (featured in the previous instalment) provided a record of moments you did not notice; these are the moments you have missed totally!

So? We have the blind camera (http://www.blinksandbuttons.net/buttons_en.html) for scenario 1 and Fixr (http://www.fixr.org/) for scenario 2.

The blind camera is a camera without any optics. You carry it around and click the shutter release every time you want to check out what is happening in Goa. The camera registers the time and searches the flickr (www.flickr.com) photo streams for photos that were taken at exactly the same moment. Of course, the photos will not be available right away but only when your friends upload them to flickr. But the additional benefit is that not only can you enjoy Goa, but you can also enjoy photos taken at exactly that moment in Langkawi or Phuket! Simply put, Fixr is a made-to-order photo delivery and sharing system. Tell them of the moment you missed and they will find a matching photograph!
