Sharing photos

I have a P4 PC, with 512 MB RAM, Intel motherboard and 40 GB hard disk installed on my system. I have loaded Windows XP Professional as the operating system. I would like to share some photos with my friends through the Web. I have already converted and saved these pictures in jpg format .

You can share your photos in different ways, such as burn your photos as a musical slide show on CD and circulate, by e-mail, online photo album, Instant messaging tools and using your blog.

If you have a small number of photos, you can probably send them using just e-mail. If would like to send a huge file, the easiest option is using the "You Send It" service. For this, please open URL www.yousendit.com and just enter the recipient's e-mail address, select the file, enter your e-mail address and a message to the recipient, and they will receive an e-mail with a URL to pick up the file. This supports up to 100 MB.

The best choice is to create an online photo album. It is fairly easy to do so, and it will allow your family and friends to view your pictures at any time that is convenient for them. There are online photo gallery options available today by means of free and paid service. Some of the good photo gallery options are Google's Picasa Web Albums, Yahoo! Photos, MSN Spaces, etc.

Since you already have a gmail account, you can use Google's Picasa Web Albums. Picasa Web Albums come with 250MB of free storage, or room to post and share approximately 1,000 wall paper-sized photos (at 1,600 pixels each). Google has released a new version of its image management software Picasa 2 that integrates `web albums' and makes it easy to create or add to albums on Picasaweb. You can download the latest version of Picasa2 at http://picasa.google.com/download/index.html (Size 4.68 MB).

Using Picasa 2, you can share your pictures via e-mail, Web album, post them on blog, making Gift CDs, and sharing via Hello. Hello (http://hello.com) is a free instant messaging tool optimised for sharing photographs instantly using a peer-to-peer connection.

Picasa 2 helps you quickly locate, organise, edit, and share pictures on your PC. When you open the picasa2 application, it automatically searches your hard drive for pictures and sorts them by date into collections and folders. It supports different image formats such as JPEG, GIF, BMP, PSD, and movie files and is compatible with most digital cameras; it detects your USB driver and imports pictures into albums. It provides you some basic digital editing tools such as removal of red-eye, colour correction, contrast, levelling and cropping. If you would like to edit a picture, just double-click on the picture you want to work with. Then select the photos you want to upload. To select multiple photos, press the Ctrl key or click `Hold' at the bottom of the window. The selected photos will appear in the `Picture Tray' in the lower-left corner. Next click the `Web Album' button at the bottom of the page. If you are not signed in to your Picasa Web Albums Account, you will be prompted to sign in. Select the album you would like to add photos to or create a new one. The Upload Manager will display the status of the upload. Once the upload is complete, you can click `View Online' to launch the album in your browser. You can rearrange your photos by clicking on `Rearrange' at the top of the Web album. For more information about picasa web album, please refer:http://picasa.google.com/web/user_faq.html

If you have a yahoo mail account, you can use yahoo! Photos. www.photos.yahoo.com

If you have a hotmail account, you can make use of http://spaces.live.com
