As pretty as an airport

Trolleys find their tongue. - H. VIBHU

Douglas Adams fans may recognise the headline from one of his novels, and the right context is "It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on Earth has ever produced the phrase, `as pretty as an airport.'"

Whether you argue about the relative merits of this airport and that, let's face it: at no time do you see the worst of an airport as you do when waiting as a transit passenger for, let's say, five hours, from 2 a.m. to 7 p.m.

You are in no position to sleep though you are tired, trying to read gives you a headache, and listening to music makes you feel worse.

The laptop is out of charge and so is your portable DVD player. Now what?

A work in progress, Trolley Singers (details athttp://silver.avu.cz/trolley_singers/">http://silver.avu.cz/trolley_singers/), if successful, and adopted by the drab airports, could lighten your transit time.

Your baggage trolley will look for a counterpart around it and try and establish a connection and try to carry on a conversation either till you or the other passenger moves out of range.

Your trolley (and the other one, too, for that matter) will then start looking for another partner.

The communication is wireless and the interaction takes the form of cooing birds.

Well, I can see that this can be cloying given the state of your mind at that time, but it will at least keep you occupied and help keep an eye out for an attractive co-passenger!
