The future of work

Click on the future - S. THANTHONI

Would you have ever imagined that the little girl next door, with pigtails and a lisp 15 years ago is now a modern young woman with a Halle Berry haircut, who mints money speaking English with a foreign accent, or even better, speaking accent-neutral English? So, what would you do if you were asked to imagine the future of work and jobs and ways to earn a livelihood? A little difficult isn't it, with technology creating new kinds of jobs almost every day?

Just to make it easier to visualise how the world could change, take a look at Little Brinkland (http://www.littlebrinkland.com/) by Anab Jain.

Little Brinkland looks at the scenario for a city in the very near future (2012), and you might be surprised at how rapid the change is, considering we are only looking at five years into the future.

Take a sampler of the new jobs available: a pet implant consultant who will help augment your pets with technology to make them more appealing; and, a databanker who will make an inventory of your data and recommend the right type of data bank account for you. And how about a new concept for working: meeting people and working in coldzones, where you will be physically offline, no Wi-Fi hotspots, no mobile phone signals, nothing but just the natural environment around you.

Now, don't go off to dream about a world where robots do all the work and humans can just laze around reading all the newspaper columns they ever wanted!
