Feeling better

There are times when one is sick, at home, and trying to write to a deadline. No one is around, it is too quiet, and one needs some ambient sounds to kick-off on a piece.

The TV gives one a headache, and one's taste for 60s and 70s rock is certainly not the ideal ambience. Well, you know how it is: at times like these, one does silly things.

One goes into the Internet to find some music to stream on while working on a story. But what if you have been chauvinistic about your taste in music till now - you don't know about any tracks that are mellow and soothing?

It is too much work searching for and checking them out, right? Well, one got the right idea at the wrong time. As one was desperately looking for suitable tracks, one stumbled on a music discovery engine (at http:// www.burstlabs.com/).

It was not what the doctor ordered, but it was certainly what the patient got. And was it helpful! The discovery engine allows you to shortlist tracks by the way you are feeling right now and the kind of music you'd like.

It has a limited repertory, but it helped and I hope, will be adopted/adapted and turned into a mainstream music discovery engine in a short while. Well, I am done now: I got some music, I finished the story.

But I am still sick and have to spend the day at home. Can we have one like this for books, please?
