Splitting video files

Is there good freeware to split a video file (*.dat, *.wmv, etc.,) of size over 800 MB into, say, two files of 600 MB and 200 MB?

RAGHU

There are many tools available on the Internet for this. One such is "SCVideo Cutand Split 1.3.0.3" (size 14 7 MB). It is a video editing program that can cut from anyvideo file and save a region, split a movie file into two parts at a certain scene and save it as two movies. It has a special feature whereby any part of the movie frame can besaved as images by using the "Save Frame" button . The program supports (AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, QT, and MOV) as input formats and (AVI, MPEG and WMV) for output formats. At present it is a freeware on promotional offer.

With this tool, a video file can be split depending on the frames' size and not Mega Bytes (MB) size. This can be downloaded from the following URL: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/multimedia_and_Graphics/ Video_and_Animation_Tools/ SC_Video_Cut_and_Split.html

Once you download SC Video Cut and Split 1.3.0.3 and install it, please open the application and select the video file that has to be split in `Input Video File' by clicking the button.

Select any one of the Output Video Format under "Convert To" as AVI, MPEG, WMV format tab, depending upon the type of format you want to save. For example, if the output video file is required to be in WMV format, please select `Windows Media Video 8 for Local Area Network' from `Output Video Format' tab.

In `Output Video File', the video files will be saved in two parts as *1.wmv & *2.wmv formats. When you select video file in `InputVideo File', it displays the total number of frames of the video file in `Frame Count'. To split the video file, please move the firstslider depending upon the number of frames you want and the number of frames you have selected will be shown in `Frame1#'.

Then move the second slider up to the next frame from the selected frame in `Frame1#' and this frame will be shown in `Frame2#". Click the `Split' button. The video file will be saved up to the number of frames youselected in `Frame1#' as `*1.wmv' and the remaining frames as `*2.wmv' in `Output Video File'.
