Using MojoPac on pen drive

I have installed MojoPac on my 2 GB Transcend Pen drive. How many cycles are provided in such drives? Is it wise to use MojoPac on pen drive or should I move on to portable hard disk?

YUGAL JINDLE

MojoPac is technology that enables us to carry our computer, along with data and applications, in a portable device, instead of carrying a laptop. The portable device can be connected to any other computer or laptop. We can access our own computer too here. This is desktop virtualisation software.

The portable device can be USB hard disk, flash drive, iPod or even mobile phone with storage. The size of the portable device can range from 2GB to 80GB. With this technology, we can carry data, applications such as word, outlook, games, Instant Messaging, Google talk and personalised settings such as desktop, themes, my documents and my pictures.

MojoPac can be installed in Windows XP. It comes in three different forms. `MojoPac Freedom' is a free download with minimum features and others are priced, `MojoPac Deluxe' and `MojoPac Enterprise' with more features. More details of the features of the application, Installation procedure and free download are available at the site www.mojopac.com

This application needs to be installed in the computer that needs to be carried in the portable device. Some folders, such as Program files, Documents and Settings, and some files also get copied onto the portable device.

Generally, the specification of the pen drive mentions read and write cycles of more than one lakh operations. This means more than one lakh read and write operations can be performed in the pen drive.

The device will continue to work even after the specified operations. The performance of the device may likely get reduced after the mentioned read and write operations. When using MojoPac in pen drives, the read and write operations are performed similar to any data access. The executables are read from pen drive and run in the host computer. This is normal read operation.

Any changes done will be saved back to the pen drive. This is a normal write operation. This cycle takes place each and every time you use MojoPac in a host computer. Apart from this read and write cycle, there is no other intensive read write operations. This should not exhaust the read write cycles mentioned in the specifications of the device.

As for the choice of using the pen drive or a USB hard disk, it depends on one's convenience and affordability .
