One for the record. - Ch. Vijaya Bhaskar.

It was just the other day, soon after I'd missed the spectacular Beijing Olympics closing ceremony, that I went to You- Tube looking for some nice but brief video clips. In the event, I couldn't find many videos, possibly because of rights issues. But I spent a whole lot of time watching some interesting wrist-watch and mobile phone reviews.

That led me to revisit some really interesting videos that I'd bookmarked and so, here goes.

First up, a lovely series of videos called Explanations in Plain English at Common Craft (http:// www.commoncraft.com/show).

You can find videos explaining products and services (such as twitter and wikis and CFL bulbs) as well as concepts such as social media and online photo sharing.

You can also find a video that explains how the US Election works, just in case you want to have an intelligent conversation with a client/vendor/partner/ colleague sitting over there.

New users and jargon-challenged people will find that the videos are easy to understand and entertaining. Not that the geeks among you have to feel left out: you can use these videos to explain these concepts and services to your nongeek friends, without having to deal with their many questions.

Next up is a lovely video called Terra- Form posted by Johannes Brueckner (http://www.johannesbruekner.com) in YouTube (run a search for "TerraForm English version"; the result should be a video 5:56 in length). The video explains globalisation, the challenges and some suggestions. What's so special? Brueckner uses people for bar and line graphs and make infographics!

And a topical video, given that we got the iPhone recently in India: Olde English's iPhone Day! (http://www.oldeenglish. org/podcast/iphone-day). Don't try it at home, though!
