I was very busy last weekend. I am not as lazy as I make myself out to be in this space (See August 25, 2008 instalment; playing with children is work). I had to assist with some shopping in the forenoon, go visiting for lunch; some more shopping in the late afternoon and a reception in the evening.

We junketed around the city, and in some cases, I visited parts of the city I haven't seen in twenty years. I was wondering about the parts of the city that I haven't visited at all, and the parts that I haven't visited in years. I was just thinking about printing out a map and doing some useful work late that night (see, not lazy) when I stumbled on "A week in the life" (http://dasautomat.com/?p=119) by Andreas Nicolas Fischer.

He wrote a program for his mobile phone that recorded his coordinates and he created a sculpture out of the time spent and the frequency of his visits to different areas of the city. The taller the structure, the more times he visited, and the larger the base, the more time he spent there. Do take the time to go through the slideshow where he has overlaid the sculpture on the city map.

Now, how would mine look? Just two circles with impossibly tall structures: one a cylinder, representing home; and an inverted cone with an impossibly large base, representing work!
