Chrome Java problem

K. Ananthan

Slow system...

I am unable to apply Java 6 update 10 as applicable to Google Chrome. Also, very often, Java files in Internet Explorer 8 make the computer hang up.

Please suggest a solution.

Vipin Bansal Google Chrome requires Java version 6, update 10. To test whether Java has been installed correctly on your system, please go to this URL: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml .

If Java is installed correctly, under the “Test your JVM section”, you may see more information such as Vendor, Version and Operating System.

Please make sure the version shows Java 6 update 10. If you can see the dancing Duke logo image animated in the applet, then the JRE is functioning correctly.

If Java is not installed correctly, you may get a prompt to automatically install Java 6 update 10 online installations.

You may see the “Java Setup – Welcome” screen. Click accept. The next screen is the “Java Setup – OpenOffice.org” one.

If you do not want to install Free OpenOffice productivity suite (optional component) just uncheck the “OpenOffice.org Installer” checkbox and click Next. This will download files required to install Java 6 update 10. Please follow the instructions.

If you do not have Internet connectivity or have a slow Internet connection, you may download the offline installation version of Java 6 update 10 from this URL: http://www.java.net/download/jdk6/6u10/promoted/b32/binaries/jre-6u10-rc2-bin-b32-windows-i586-p-12_sep_2008.exe [size is 14.70 MB].

Once you have installed Java successfully, most probably your IE8 Java problem also will get solved.

If you came up against errors while installing Java, please refer to the following URL:
