Get me a pizza!

Food for thought - Vino John

Well, after the previous instalment elicited some feedback that it showed that I am growing older, I just paused (see, older people stop; I only paused!) and then said to myself, "what the heck! I am young at heart!" and what better way to think young than eat with reckless abandon.

Regular readers of this space know that I have a weakness for good infographics and charts and so here goes a nice and easy one: the chocolate pie chart (http://www.maryandmatt.net/ store/cpc.html), a real chocolate pie to make statisticians and analysts (and hungry journalists) drool for more.

Another interesting pie chart is the "Pie I have eaten" by Jamie Schimlie (http:// graphjam.com/2008/09/18/song-chartmemes- pie-i-have-eaten/).

I enjoyed this one more than the chocolate pie chart because of the hopeful and almost inevitable note that the legend "Pie I have not yet eaten" [emphasis mine] evokes.

Not even a passing thought about sharing it with someone.

And while all this levity has its place, and staying on with the topic of food, here is a lovely informational video available at Japan's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (http://www.maff.go.jp/e/ grv2422/) titled "Ensuring the future of food" that takes a meaningful look at Japanese food patterns and consumption habits and what has to change. Some of the insights hold true for all of us.

Now that I am done, I'd like to have a banana-pineapple pie on a chart, please.

N. NAGARAJ
