Our question derives from the study abstracted in this week’s tip. How important is putting in long hours at work — being physically seen coming in early and leaving late — to how you are evaluated at work? Do evaluation systems objectively measure output, or are they simply driven by perceptions? In other words, how important is it to convince your boss that you are working hard — regardless of what you are actually achieving?

Keywords: Long hours, work

Comments:
Some boss who do not know how to measure would only do to clock how many hours you put work. However, it can not be denied that output is partially dependent on hours of
work. Too less is counter productive, too much is also detrimental. In
case of blue workers, time is more important, in case of white collar
worker, number of hours is less important. As Performance mngt system is
dysfunctional, people would depend more on hours of work than qunatum of
qualitative output.
