A stakeholder awareness and education seminar on agri-business and commodity markets to discuss scientific management of price risks in the volatile agricultural markets will be held at 4.30 pm on Saturday at Hotel Parisutham, Canal Road in Thanjavur.

The event is organised by The Hindu Business Line jointly with Forward Markets Commission (FMC), the commodity futures market regulator, under the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs and the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), the country's largest futures bourse for agricultural commodities, as part of an ongoing series to reach out to stakeholders.

The seminar seeks to bring together different categories of market participants including commodity producers, processors, traders, importers, exporters, trade intermediaries and others operating in the physical market to create awareness about the use of futures trading as a tool for price discovery and price risk management.

Experts will make presentations on topics of relevance. Speakers include G. Chandrashekhar, The Hindu Business Line, who will speak on ‘Commodities as critical driver of India's economic growth’ and Deepak Sayana, NCDEX, on ‘Commodity futures trading for price discovery and price risk management.’

Presentations will be followed by an open house discussion.

Due to limited number of seats, registration is necessary. Contact: Mr S. Gopalakrishnan 98422 80928.
