Tea prices rise 9.72% in first 7 months

Tea prices in domestic auctions have increased by 9.72 per cent in the first seven months of current calendar compared to the same period last year, says an analysis of the latest data received from the Tea Board and various auction centres.

Between January and July, prices increased to Rs 111.41 a kg from Rs 101.54.

This increase of Rs 9.87 marks a growth of 9.72 per cent.

N. India sale

Prices in North Indian auctions rose to Rs 126.40 from Rs 117.81.

In the South, they increased to Rs 83.10 from Rs 70.26.

Highest price average

Kolkata auctions continued to post the country’s highest price average of Rs 133.05 (Last year: Rs 128.40) followed by Guwahati Rs 124.28 (Rs 110.48), Jalpaiguri Rs 124.24 (no auction last year) and Siliguri Rs 117.71 (Rs 107.17).

All South Indian auction centres posted a lower price average than North Indian centres.

Kochi auctions

Kochi auctions topped at Rs 93.19 (Rs 79.05) followed by Coimbatore Rs 78.43 (Rs 66.02) and Coonoor Rs 77.48 (Rs 65.20).

Teaserve auctions posted the country’s lowest price average of Rs 71.13 (Rs 57.64).
