Prema Jayakumar can choose place of posting
In one of the rare direct appointment offers made by public sector banks, all-India chartered accountancy exam topper Prema Jayakumar has been offered a manager’s position in Indian Bank.
Rare case
Prema’s achievement is creditable as she comes from a family with modest means. Her father, who migrated from Tamil Nadu to Mumbai about two decades ago, is an autorickshaw driver earning a monthly income of about Rs 15,000 to support a family of four.
Vipon Malhotra, General Manager (Mumbai Zone), Indian Bank, handed over the appointment letter to Prema on Thursday.
The Chennai-headquartered Indian Bank has offered her posting at a place of her choice after training.
At a time when companies, Indian and multinational, are willing to pay top dollar to get the young woman to join their ranks, it remains to be seen if Prema will want to make a career with a public sector bank. A manager’s position fetches a salary of around Rs 28,000 a month.
Public sector undertakings, including banks, do away with the formalities of a written exam and interview only in exceptional cases. Indian sportspersons of international standing come under this category.
Felicitations, awards
Prema and her brother, who also cleared the chartered accountancy exam, burned the midnight oil to come out in flying colours.
Meanwhile, political parties in Tamil Nadu are falling over one another to felicitate the young achiever. On Thursday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to Prema.
The DMK too announced a Rs 1 lakh reward.

Comments:
A reward to hardwork.
Though not from the pedigree of chartered accountants families and the
associated environment available to them denied, it is a clear case to
prove that given facilities the hidden talents of multitude of young
students will come to the fore irrespective of caste or creed. Many
muslim children who had a chance to study sanskrit have come on top. It
is sheer perseverance and effort on not pedigree that counts
A good spontaneous qwuick response from teh Indian bank, an appreciable
act.
Congratulations, Hats off to you, Wish you A very good luck for your
future, God bless you sis.
I am happy to know that PSBs are coming forward to help the poor
Congratulation Prema ji! You are an inspiration to millions of
students across India and have also proved wrong that money and
educated family alone is not the criteria for success in any field.
One's will power & determination goes a long way in materializing the
dream.
This kind of recognition to intellectual feat is a feast to enjoy!
Wishing you all the best in your new endeavour!
Regards,
Dolkar
Bravo...keep it up.You are indeed "prerna" to others. Since you are one step ahead;Do NOT GET DISTRACTED by petty rewards. You have a long way go in the JUNGLE. My blessings.
This sort of nonsense should go Had she written to the banks to give her an educational loan she would haven been sent from pillar to post with deep frustration in her heart. Where is the surety would a bank ask ?This kind of flattery should stop She knows how to get a job When a IIM man can get one crore per month what a pittance the Indian bank offers
Congratulations ! As one of the readers, Himanshu Zaveri, has said
kindly do not get distracted by petty rewards.
Really Preema will be a great inspiration for coming future students...........

First of all, I will congradulate Ms.Prema, for this magnificient achievement. You have proved that Money is not a matter, only well determination and perseverence is a must for every one to pass the CA in the First Attempt with such a huge hight and it is an excellent inspiration for the Lakhs of the poor and middle class students in our country to pursue this course. My humble suggestion don't settle your life in the job market itself and if you have time try to guide and coach the poor students to take this course and make them to clear the CA. I conce again wish you a good luck in all your feature endeavours.
