Microsoft has launched its own version of the tablet called the Surface.

The product will come in two avatars, running Windows RT and Windows 8 Pro.

The Windows RT device compares well with the iPad (with the exception of apps, of course). It will be 9.3 mm thick and weigh 0.68 kg (the iPad is 9.4 mm thick and weighs 0.59 kg).

The Windows 8 Pro version is expected to weigh around 0.91 kg and be around 14 mm thick.

Surface has a 10.6 inch screen, which is bigger than the iPad's 9.7 inch screen. It comes with a stand and the cover acts as a keyboard. When used this way, it is reminiscent of a laptop.
