Ashok Vemuri, a key long serving Infosys official, has quit the company, which is in the process of realigning its top management.

Vemuri, board member and Head of Americas and of Manufacturing and Engineering Services, who has been with the company for 15 years has put in his papers, Infosys announced on Wednesday.

The next in command, Sanjay Jalona, who is currently the regional head for manufacturing in North America will take over as the Global Head of Manufacturing, the company said in a statement. The buzz is that Vemuri will be joining iGate. However, an iGate spokesperson said the company will not comment on any speculation.

“We will get to know whether Vemuri was part of the operation clean up or he left on his own depending on where he joins,” an analyst with a brokerage firm told Business Line.

While Vemuri’s colleague, Basab Pradhan, joined a start-up in California, CliQr, Sudhir Chaturvedi has become the COO of NIIT.
