Swedish telecom equipment-maker Ericsson has appointed Chris Houghton as head of region, India, effective June 3.

He succeeds Fredrik Jejdling, who will assume the role as Head of Region, sub-Saharan Africa.

Houghton, who is currently Head of Customer Unit UK and Ireland and Managing Director Ericsson UK, will be also on its Global Leadership Team.

Its partnership with the Indian telecom industry started in 1903, when it supplied switchboards to the Government.
