Network cabling solutions provider Siemon Cabling Solutions of US has shifted its back-end office from New Delhi to Hyderabad, as it seeks to sharpen focus on the domestic data centre market.

The Hyderabad facility will also take care of sales and marketing operations of the company in India.

“The Hyderabad Centre of Competency will handle back-end operations, including IT programming and warranty processing, for our global operations,” Mr Carl Siemon, President, told media persons here on Wednesday.

The family-owned and operated company, which has presence in 37 countries, will be scaling up its staff strength to 30 professionals in the next two years.

Siemon, which has a 6-8 per cent market share in India, may consider setting up a manufacturing facility after attaining “some critical mass”. Till, then it will get the products from its China facility.

“We entered China in 1994 with a small market share and we had no plans to set up a manufacturing unit then. By 2001-02, when our market share climbed to over 30 per cent, we set up the present unit,” Mr Siemon pointed out.

Mr Sriram Adiraju, Country Manager, Siemon India, said the company expected its market share in India to grow to 18-21 per cent by 2014, primarily driven by the thriving growth opportunity in data centre deployment in the country.

The reason behind shifting back-end operations from New Delhi to Hyderabad is mainly because most large financial institutions, IT and ITeS companies had their data centres located in the South, in addition to the vast talent pool available here, he said.
