The Calcutta High Court will on Wednesday hear the Kolkata Port Trust’s appeal to restrict ABG-LDA-run Haldia Bulk Terminals from removing its equipment lying at the Haldia port.

The port authorities have suggested appointment of a special officer to stop HBT from removing its equipment from berths 2 and 8 at Haldia dock complex.

The KoPT recently filed a fresh application in the Calcutta High Court seeking its intervention into the matter.

Meanwhile, HBT filed a new application at the Court demanding their equipment to be restored from the Haldia port. HBT’s appeal will also be heard on Wednesday.

On October 31, HBT announced its decision to withdraw operations from the Haldia port citing lawlessness. A senior KoPT official said: “If HBT’s estimated damage is about Rs 100 crore after depreciation for the unused equipment, our damage is much more than that.”
