As many as six chambers of Commerce and Industry from Pakistan have confirmed their participation in the PHD-Punjab International Trade Expo (PHD-PITEX 2012) to be held in Amritsar next month.

This comes close on the heels of the recent visit of the trade delegation led by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal to Pakistan.

Rajiv Bali, who heads the Punjab Committee of PHD Chamber, said in a statement here on Thursday that the delegation had received a good response from the trading and business community in Pakistan.

Bali said the visit of the Pakistan delegation to participate in the trade expo would complement the recently held trade talks in Pakistan.

The State event PHD-PITEX 2012, to be held from December 6 to 10 is being organised by PHD Chamber.

Bali said that this would be the largest Pakistan trade delegation to India.

The participating chambers, he said, include Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

“Being a part of the integrated approach towards better trade ties, such interactions play the role of a catalyst”, said Bali while referring to the recent interactions at Pakistan.

He said there has been a constant growth in the number of overseas visitors and exhibitors each season to PHD-PITEX, especially from Pakistan.
