Cypher 2017, an analytics and data science summit, was held in Bengaluru. The three-day event saw attendance from around 750 professionals and 100 speakers across the world, according to Analytics India Magazine (AIM), the organisers.

The summit touched all aspects of data science, data analytics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and also had workshops for professionals to get a handle on the latest technologies.

Some of the companies that participated included Deloitte, PepsiCo, IBM, Walmart, Yatra, Wipro and American Express. Similar to the previous edition, Cypher 2017, collaborated with Great Lakes Institute of Management to recognise the best players in the data science field. The awards, given under five different categories, acknowledged emerging start-ups in India.

The third edition was a success because of the need for such a summit among professionals in the analytics field, according to Bhasker Gupta, CEO and founder of AIM.

While most of the sponsors from last year — Deloitte, Jigsaw Academy, Great Learning, Praxis Business School and Edvancer – returned, this year also saw over 12 new names, including IBM, Wipro, IIDT, Manipal Global and Manthan.

“It was a right platform to engage with young professionals and help them build better careers with the PGPDM programme we offer in conjunction with the University of Chicago and IBM,” said Gaurav Vohra, CEO of Jigsaw Academy.

“It was interesting to see the high traction around AI and ML applications in various business scenarios to realise the value and impact,” said Debashish Banerjee, Managing Director, Deloitte Consulting. The Hindu BusinessLine was the media partner for the event.
