Nasdaq-listed DSP Group Inc, a global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications, plans to invest $10 million in its India operations, over the next three years.

DSP Group had set up its India operations in 2007 in Bengaluru, and its team of 55 engineers focused on embedded software development, research, verification, global project management and worldwide customer support, work on world class technology products with Tier-1 OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) such as, Cisco, Avaya, Panasonic, Samsung, Vtech, among others.

The company has ramped up its office space from 6,000 sq ft to 16,000 sq ft at Manyata Technology Park in Bengaluru, and will increase its headcount to 100 engineers over the next few years. The new premise will focus on technology development and superior level support to DSP Group’s customers worldwide.

Growth target

“Our team in Bengaluru is engaged in cutting edge technology development across various platforms such as ULE (ultra low energy), VoIP (voice over IP) and mobile. From generating $2 million in revenue in 2007, the Bengaluru team generated $30 million in FY 2015, growing at 50 per cent Y-o-Y. We are looking at accelerating our growth initiatives and the Bengaluru team will continue to play a lead role in these efforts,” Ofer Elyakim, CEO of DSP Group, told BusinessLine .

DSP Group recorded $144 million in revenue for FY 2015 globally, and has a global headcount of 340 employees.

Pointing out that DSP Group’s operations in Bengaluru is growing the fastest in terms of both headcount and revenue globally, he said, “We want to build a stronger presence here, as we have top class engineering talent that is creative, has a problem-solving mindset, and has great team players both internally as well as externally with customers.”

Mehul Mehta, Vice-President (VoIP and Multimedia), and India Country Manager of DSP Group, said, “Our team is generating annual average revenues in excess of $500,000 per employee and we intend to keep that as a target when we hire to expand our team, which will be a combination of freshers and laterals.”

The company delivers semiconductor system solutions with software and hardware reference designs, and works with customers starting from collecting the requirements for SoC (system-on-a-chip) design, until the product is deployed in the market.

It provides solutions for IP Telephony products, video conferencing, home phones, office phones, IoT devices, and mobile phones. It partners with consumer electronics manufacturers and service providers to shape the future of converged communications at home, office and on the go.
