Bengaluru-based G7CR Technologies has launched an initiative that will help SMEs to build custom software free-of-cost.

The IT solution will use Microsoft's cloud computing technology called Azure which will enable software development, migration, adaption, implementation, support and is free for life, said Christopher Richard, MD & Chief Software Architect, G7CR Technologies.

However, the SME has to pay for hosting its technology.

"The client would pay only on the cost per click basis for cloud usage, at actuals and can get a custom developed business automation application or existing standard solution depending on their needs at affordable price points. G7CR makes money by getting the 15 per cent on every SME signed up, which is the commission given by Microsoft to its partners,'' he said.

G7CR is trying out this new concept with a hope that its target customers with revenues of more than Rs 50 crore do not default on payments or go bankrupt, a worrying trend being seen amongst mid-sized companies, according to industry watchers.

"We have factored that in and have reserved 6 per cent as possibility for bad debts but remain confident that Indian industries are keenly looking to use tech as a differentiator," said Richard.

So far a dozen companies have signed up for this, which includes the likes of Clinikk Healthcare.

Suraj Baliga, Founder, Clinikk Healthcare, added that lack of financing coupled with fast paced digital disruption are proving to be major constraints for most SMEs today as they try to scale up to compete with larger competitors.
