IBM announced the graduation of the first group of students from Tanmatra, an innovative, cross-industry women’s leadership development program conducted in collaboration with The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) and Catalyst India WRC.

Thirty high-potential women from industries including IT, banking, pharma, and manufacturing completed Tanmatra (which means potential in Sanskrit).

The 10-month program was open to organisations across the country and trained a select group of women with at least 12 years of work experience. By leveraging the best collective practical experience and research, this course helps prepare women for leadership in the Indian business community and offers a common platform to network with industry leaders.

As the industry partner in this collaborative program, IBM highlights the organisation’s focus on advancement of women as essential to successful business.

Catalyst India WRC is the research partner for Tanmatra, offering research expertise and engaging leadership sessions as part of Tanmatra’s curriculum.

The education partner IIM-Bangalore, provided its campus for leadership modules led by world class faculty.

Highlighting the success of the program Dilpreet Singh, Vice President - HR, IBM India/South Asia, said, “IBM recognises that the women that we develop now will help advance and lead the business of the future. Our company has long had industry-leading policies focused on attracting, developing and retaining women talent, globally and locally. It has been an honour to be the industry partner on Tanmatra as it is aligned with our goal of building women leaders who will contribute to the transformation of our business and mentoring the next generation of talent.”

Prof Vasanthi Srinivasan, Program Director, IIM-Bangalore, said, “We are delighted with the success of the Tanmatra program. This has been a one-of-a-kind developmental program for high-potential women, empowering them with exposure to business concepts, mentoring and networking opportunities with established leaders.
