Karnataka Minister for Large and Medium Scale Industry and Tourism R. V. Deshpande has expressed his ‘disappointment’ over Apple CEO Tim Cook not visiting Bengaluru.

Bengaluru, which hosts around one million IT professionals, was given a miss by the CEO of the world's largest technology company.

“Thank you very much for visiting India. However, we in Karnataka state are disappointed as this time you could not make it to Bengaluru, the Silicon City of India. I am sure in your next visit you will first land in Bengaluru and then go to other parts of our country,” Deshpande wrote in his letter to the head of Apple.

However, welcoming Apple’s plan to set up an 'App Design and Development Accelerator', Deshpande said “Indian IT professionals will get a boost as part of a global programme. I am looking forward to your group to make more and more investments in India, more so in Karnataka.”

“India is home to one of the most vibrant and entrepreneurial iOS development communities in the world,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, adding that with this new facility in Bengaluru, Apple is giving developers access to tools which will help them create innovative apps for customers around the world.”

Thousands of developers in India make apps for iOS, the world’s most powerful mobile operating system and the foundation for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
