Local businesses or those based out of Kolkata have seen a 60 per cent growth through online initiatives and online presence, according to a survey by “ kolkataonline.in ”.
Kolkataonline is a division of Indiaonline.in , a local search website with a network of 350 user-centric websites.
The study states that small businesses are contributing around 45 per cent to India’s GDP; while larger ones or corporates contribute to around 15 per cent.
One such initiative organised by the website – “Get Online” – aimed at helping local businesses (within Kolkata) make their own websites (for free) and list the same on the “ kolkataonline.in ” portal. This is likely to allow these businesses better visibility.
According to a release issued by kolkataonline.in the main categories under which local businessmen and professionals can register include automobile dealers, car rentals, construction machinery and supply chemists and so on.
