Water polo may be a little known sport in India. But a Mangalore-based technology start-up was instrumental in developing an app on this game during the London Olympics.

Since then, Mangalore-based Code Craft Technologies Pvt Ltd has developed many apps.

Speaking to Business Line here, Dikshith Rai, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Code Craft Technologies, said the company registered in April 2011, has around 20 employees now. The plan is to take that number to 50-70 in the next one year.

Explaining about various apps developed by Code Craft, he said the company’s ‘Quick Lapse HD’ app was featured in ‘What’s Hot Category’ in Apple’s iTunes Store.

This app creates time-lapse video and adds the audio from user’s library on the fly.

(Time-lapse video is capturing the same thing over a period of time, and then playing it back in a much shorter interval of time so that those changes which were previously unnoticeable due to the time gap between them become pronounced.)

Quoting the examples of moving clouds and blooming flower , he said the moment recording is stopped the Quick Lapse video will be ready. Many users now use this app for You Tube videos and Facebook, he said.

On the water polo app, Rai said this was the very first water polo video game that simulated the actual sport on iOS.

“Actually, we had to learn the game and study things like how the referee stands andthe body language of players . It was launched during London Olympics. This game made people noticing Code Craft as the developing partner,” he said.

On business model, he said as a start-up, his company makes products for the customers. “We are also advisors for those who have ideas, but don’t know how to do them. A chunk of the revenue is used for research and development activities,” he said.

Praveen Castellino, Chief Technology Officer, said the company has worked on almost every vertical like medical education, real estate, gaming and enterprise apps. Till now, the company has developed over 50 apps. Many of them are enterprise apps. Some more apps are in the pipeline, he said.

Medical apps

Rai said medical and education apps have good potential to explore. The company wants to focus on education apps development for the next two quarters, he added.
