Google officially launched the ‘Nexus 5X’ and ‘Nexus 6P’ smartphones for the Indian market here on Tuesday. The models are exclusively available for pre-orders on Amazon India and Flipkart, respectively, while online and offline sales will commence on October 21.

The Nexus 5X is priced at ₹31,900 (16GB) and ₹35,900 (32GB) while the 6P variant costs ₹39,999 (32GB) and ₹42,999 (64GB).

Phone manufacturers LG and Huawei partnered with Google to create the Nexus 5X and 6P, which run on Android 6.0 or ‘Marshmallow’.

“India is now the fastest growing smartphone market in the world and it’s exciting to launch our newest Nexus phones here,” said David Shapiro, Global Director (Chrome and Android Marketing), Google.

Both phones feature an ‘Android Sensor Hub’, a co-processor which Google says will help curb power consumption. They also feature fingerprint, proximity and ambient light sensors.

The two devices also sport a 12.3MP rear camera and a tri-colour notification LED. The 5X has a 5MP front camera and the 6P an 8MP one.

The 5X, manufactured by LG, has a Corning Gorilla Glass 3-protected 5.2-inch screen with Full-HD (1920x1080) resolution with oleophobic coating to prevent smudging. The phone will be available in ‘Carbon Black’, ‘Quartz White’ and ‘Ice Blue’ variants. The device is powered by a 1.8 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor and has 2GB LPDDR3 RAM. It features a 2700 mAh battery which the company says can provide up to 3.8 hours of charge in 10 minutes.

The 6P, an all-metal device made from ‘aeronautical-grade’ aluminium, has been built by Huawei, and has a 5.7-inch screen, protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 4, with Wide-Quad HD (2560x1440) AMOLED display and oleophobic coating.

This variant runs on a 2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and has 3GB LPDDR4 RAM. It uses a 3,450 mAh battery that Google states can provide up to 7 hours of charge in 10 minutes.
