Hyve, a mobility start-up, co-founded by ex-Apple India Head (Enterprise Mobility) Sharad Mehrotra, on Wednesday launched two Android-based smartphones — Buzz and Storm – priced at ₹13,999 and ₹8,499, respectively.

To be available only through online channels — Amazon, Flipkart and Gadget360 — from next week, the company said it aims to sell one million units in the first year.

“Riding high on digital marketing and social media, we will do one million units in the first year. We will come out with only fewer phones a year (four-five) including upgrades of existing phones instead of launching many models as our strategy,” Mehrotra, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Hyve, told reporters here.

He said the company will also provide doorstep pick and drop facilities for services during the warranty periods of these phones. While Buzz has a two-year warranty, Storm has a one-year standard warranty. It will also sell through multi-retailers ‘within a quarter’.

“Our pan India (42,000 pin codes) pick-up and drop service will set the new benchmark in service and support landscape,” he said.

The 5.5-inch Buzz has MediaTek 1.5 GHz Octa Core processor with 3GB RAM and 48GB memory (expandable up to 144GB), 2,500 mAH battery 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera with dual LED flash and dual pixel for low light imaging, the company said, adding that it will also support voice over LTE.

The Storm, with 5-inch screen has MediaTek 1.3 GHz Quad Core processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB memory (expandable up to 80GB), 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera and 2000 mAH battery.
