In an effort to bridge the employability gap and enhance skilling within the IT industry, Nasscom on Thursday partnered with 3D design technology firm, Autodesk Inc, to create a new, standardised courseware — ‘Product Design Engineer – Mechanical’.
The courseware will help create a skilled talent pool, trained in global standards, with the ability to usher in a design-led future of making things in India in the Engineering Research & Development sub-sector of the industry, said industry body Nasscom.
To make the course relevant and viable, Nasscom has partnered with industry stakeholders such as Autodesk, Geometric, Imaginarium, JCB, L&T Technology Services, SQS, Tata Technologies and TCS. Their inputs have enhanced the design of the curriculum and courseware, which also addresses the need for faculty support, and seeks to achieve this by acquainting trainers with the latest advancement in pedagogy, Nasscom said.
“India needs an evolved education ecosystem built on the foundations of design thinking. This will ensure that the skill sets possessed by the workforce are relevant and in sync with the changing requirements of the manufacturing sector,” Tim Scanlon, Global Engagement Lead, Autodesk Education Experiences, said.
“Nasscom is confident that this course will help enhance the skills of professionals in the industry making them market ready,” R Chandrashekhar, President, Nasscom, said.
