Home-grown taxi hailing app, Ola, today launched a mobile app for its operators. This is a B2B app that the company has launched for people who have turned entrepreneurs from driving/ owning a single car to owning a fleet of Ola Cabs.

The mobile app will help these operators better manage their fleet by tracking their cabs in real time as well as by receiving alerts on their running status and also tracking their daily earnings.

The Bengaluru-based company, one of the largest with over 4.5 lakh cars, doesn't own any inventory (cabs) but helps drivers get financing for cars.

Over the past seven years, the company founded by IIT Bombay alumni Bhavish Agarwal and Ankit Bhati in 2011, has grown from providing taxi services in a single city to over 100 cities. Compared to this, Ola's arch rival Uber, a San Francisco-based company, has entered 28 cities in just two-and-a-half years.

The competition between the two companies has resulted in both companies coming up with new features and innovative products. Over the past few months, both Uber and Ola have moved beyond aggregation of taxis and launched autos, shuttle buses and even two-wheelers.
