Pegasystems, a US-based software company that specialises in Customer Relationship Management solutions, plans to scale up the number of Pega-certified professionals in the country.

India is home to about 65 per cent of the nearly 20,000 Pega professionals and is expected to retain its lead in the next few years.

“If the growth momentum continues, the Pega ecosystem will have 65,000 to 70,000 developers in the next five years,” Suman Eadunuri, Managing Director of Pegasystems India, told BusinessLine .

The firm had recently organised the Pega World Conference in Las Vegas, an event that was telecast live for about 1,300 Pega employees in India.

The Indian arm, which accounts for a third of the company’s global human resource of 3,700, is planning to hire about 300 more employees this year.

The firm is following a three-pronged approach to meet the growing demand among IT services firms for Pega-certified professionals. “We have the traditional practice of training developers through our channel partners. Besides, we have launched an online academy to offer a 10-day course,” Eadunuri said.

The firm has also launched a pilot programme in two engineering colleges in Hyderabad to offer the course. “We are exposing them to Pega software in three semesters. They will get a certificate at the end of the course,” he said. Eadunuri claimed IT companies are likely to offer 30-40 per cent more salaries to Pega-certified students. The company intends to train 500 students in the first year.
