For small and medium businesses in India, the Chicago-based Softweb Solutions Inc has launched Artificial Intelligence (AI)-supported 'smart factory' solutions.

The company, which is currently catering to US-based clients such as Bosch and GE, has initiated engagements with entrepreneurs in Gujarat to provide solutions through Internet-of-things (IOT) to remotely monitor machines and factories.

"We have started engagements with SMEs in Gujarat, especially manufacturers of machines, tools in the engineering, textiles, pharmaceuticals and automobiles sectors. Artificial Intelligence can enhance efficiency, reliability, security and safety in an enterprise," Ripal Vyas, President, Softweb Solutions, told BusinessLine .

Besides smart factory solutions, the company is also focusing on predictive maintenance, remote monitoring, data science and visualisations, enterprise mobility and augmented or virtual reality.

Softweb currently has a team of 450 developers, analysts, scientists and marketing executives in Ahmedabad catering to its US clients.

"We are in the process of hiring 250 skilled and qualified human resources for the Gujarat expansion. We have a strong presence in North America with a dedicated development centre in Gujarat. But looking at the interest of SMEs in AI and smart factory solutions, we look forward to build good client base in this fiscal," said Vyas.

Softweb Solutions is extensively engaged in data engineering and data science; building intelligence into applications and implementing AI and machine learning technologies to numerous business scenarios.

Vyas further added that AI comes with a negligible cost (comes with a internet-connected device) but provides much additional value to the enterprises. The specially-designed device is installed on a machine and collects real-time data based on the usage and operational pattern of a machine.

"The enterpreneurs felt that this data will help them create a new line of revenue. This device will help these SMEs to have smart factories to determine their production strategy, efficiency and even inventory," added Vyas, who is also exploring opportunities in the real estate projects under Smart City initiatives.
