Telecom major Vodafone today announced the availability of 4G SIMs for customers.

These 4G-ready SIMs will be made available at multi-brand outlets in a phased manner, the company said in a release.

In order to avail of 4G services, customers will need to have 4G-enabled handsets and new 4G-ready SIM cards.

According to the release, the SIMs are being made available in advance of the commercial launch of Vodafone’s 4G services in Kolkata.

A formal announcement regarding the launch, which is expected soon, will be made in due course.

Customers can walk in to a nearby Vodafone store and get their 4G-ready SIM. They would continue to enjoy uninterrupted mobile Internet experience under their existing plans with the new 4G-ready SIMs, and would be automatically upgraded to 4G as soon as the services are launched commercially.

Announcing this, Anand Sahai, Business Head–Kolkata and Rest of Bengal Circles, Vodafone India, said: "We are excited and fully geared up to launch our 4G services on the superior 1800 MHz band in Kolkata very soon.”

Vodafone has already launched its high-speed 4G services in Kerala. The roll-out will continue with major metros such as Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Delhi to be launched by March 2016.
