Zoho, the US-based productivity tools and cloud-based applications provider, has officially launched an operating system for businesses.

Called Zoho One, the operating system has 35 cloud-based applications, including sales, marketing, customer support, accounting, HR, productivity, collaboration and business intelligence, and is priced at ₹1,000 per month, per employee, said Sridhar Vembu, CEO and founder of Zoho Corp. It took nearly 10 years to develop the product, he told newspersons.

In the last three months, nearly 350 companies with over 5,000 employees across the world have been using Zoho One, he said. By the year end, seven or eight more applications would be added and by next year it will have around 50 applications. In the US, the product is priced at $1 per employee per day and in the UK at £1. However, in India the price is nearly half that of the international markets, he said.

With Zoho One, a company has all the applications it needs to acquire and serve its customers, and for employees to work collaboratively. They can even build custom apps for unique business needs and put them under the same umbrella — the single operating system for the entire business, he said.

Zoho One will dispense with traditional vendor pricing strategies such as upgrades, add-ons, multi-year contracts, and usage restrictions that are designed to chain the customer to vendor and make real pricing opaque. Zoho One includes enterprise-level editions of all the Zoho business applications, along with mobile, native apps, and extensions. All on one simple invoice for the entire organisation, he said.
