NIFTY PEAKS: The Nifty hit a new all-time high on Friday to close at 1837.05. Its previous high was 1818 during intra-day trade on February 23, 2000 The Nifty has posted returns of 67 per cent this year. The inclusion of stocks such as Gail, Nalco, Shipping Corporation and SAIL during the year provided was a significant boost to the index. The combined weight of these stocks in the market cap of the Nifty is at 9.4 per cent. Apart from Reliance, stocks such as ICICI Bank, Grasim, Larsen & Toubro, HDFC and BHEL have made a healthy contribution.
