Honda lowers sedan prices

Honda has slashed the prices of the City ZX, the EXi and the GXi by Rs 2,000 and the City ZX VTEC by Rs 10,000. It has also reduced the price of its premium sedan Accord by Rs 15,000. However, Honda has raised the price of its SUV, the Honda CR-V, by about Rs 33,000.

Maruti slashes prices

Maruti has slashed the prices of the M800, the Omni, the Alto, the WagonR and the Zen by a little over 6 per cent. The M800 Std now costs about Rs 1.9 lakh and Zen VXi, about Rs 3.8 lakh. Maruti has also reduced the price of its premium sedan Baleno, which has a large import content. With the reduction in the Customs duty, the Baleno is now cheaper by Rs 8,000. The prices of its other models the Esteem, the Swift, the Versa and the Gypsy have been left untouched.

Discount offers from Hero Honda

Hero Honda, as part of its celebrations of being the world's largest two-wheeler manufacturer for the fifth consecutive year, is offering a discount of Rs 1,001 on all of its vehicles except the Super Splendor and its newly launched scooter, Pleasure. The discount on the CD Dawn is about 3 per cent and on the Karizma, about 1.4 per cent.

Finance scheme from Yamaha

Yamaha is offering finance schemes on its four-stroke standard bikes G5 and Crux. The two-wheeler manufacturer is offering its customers options of zero per cent finance or loans at 2.99 per cent (flat). The offer is valid in Pondicherry and Tamil Nadu.

Market buzz

LML, which has been beleaguered by poor volumes, plans to restructure its business by inducting a strategic partner.

Toyota has said that it would not consider hastening its small car launch despite the excise duty cut.

Tata Motors plans to slash the prices of the Indica diesel following the excise duty cut. The auto major also plans to reduce the prices of the petrol version of the Indica, despite it falling outside the ambit of the `small car' definition.
