Suzuki Zeus

Following the launch of Heat, Suzuki Motorcycles India has rolled out a new bike on the same 125cc platform. The new roll out, Zeus, carries an introductory price tag of Rs 46,084 (ex-showroom Mumbai). This new entrant to the two-wheeler market is also planning a variant of the Zeus, which would enable it garner a larger pie of the domestic market. The company expects that along with the launch of the proposed variant Zeus would outnumber sales of the recently launched Heat.

Offers on small cars

Maruti has come out with an offer on its small cars — the WagonR and the Zen — at select dealerships in Tamil Nadu. Zen buyers would be eligible for an extended four-year warranty and an MP3 player. Buyers can instead also opt for a cash discount of Rs 25,000. The offer on the Zen is available across all variants. On the WagonR, the carmaker is offering a discount of Rs 50 for every one per cent that your child scores inStandard X and XII exam results declared in 2006. Under the offer only one mark-sheet is eligible for the discount on a WagonR. The offer, which is valid until May 31, is in addition to the exchange bonus, a gift cheque and insurance at Re 1 for the first year.

Market buzz

On the back of the successful launch of its City ZX model, which was rolled out in November 2005, Honda Siel Cars India plans to double its production capacity. To meet the demand for its latest model and the proposed Civic sedan, HSCI plans to double capacity at its Greater Noida plant from 50,000 units per annum by the end of 2007. In December 2005, Honda Siel increased the to 50,000 units from 30,000. In April, Honda Siel sold 4,007 units of City ZX, its leading model.

Following the overwhelming response for its recently launched sixth generation Camry, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is said to be sitting on pending orders for about 250 units extending to a waiting period of about three months for the model. TKM now plans to increase imports to meet the demand and clear the order backlog. The carmaker is in talks with its parent, Toyota Motor Corporation, to increase supplies of the Camry to India.
