TOYOTA'S LIMITED edition version.
With the impending launch of the Honda Civic, Toyota was expected to up the ante by offering more attractive options for Corolla buyers. The Corolla is expected to take a lot of competitive heat from the Civic. Meanwhile, apart from a new finance scheme, Toyota has also launched a new limited edition version of its best selling premium sedan. Toyota Kirloskar Motor has said that the Corolla limited edition will be available in two dramatically different colours Metallic Red and Champagne Mica Metallic. New features have been added both to the interiors and exteriors to further enhance the luxury, safety and superior manoeuvrability that the Corolla has traditionally been associated with.
New look
On the outside, the limited edition offers enhanced styling with new chrome-finished alloy wheels, a stylish side skirt, in addition to attractive luxury, safety features such as the intelligent automatic headlamps. The automatic headlamps are equipped with sensors to ensure that the multi-reflector headlamps are turned on whenever a change in the ambient light is detected by the electronic system. The 10-spoke chrome finish alloy wheels complement the aerodynamic styling of the sedan's exteriors. Superior interiors of the limited edition are designed to offer classic luxury. A touch of burl wood in the form of semi-circular inserts has been added to the steering wheel. The wheel also houses the music system's audio controls to ensure easier handling for the driver. Corolla's interiors are plush with luxurious seats and insulators that reduce noise, vibrations and harshness. A rear sunshade is also offered to further help maintain a comfortable, soothing interior temperature. The limited edition continues to be powered by the same 1.8-litre DOHC, VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) engine that delivers a whopping 125PS of peak power. The engine uses Toyota's VVT-i technology. Corolla dominates the premium car segment in India commanding over 27 per cent of the market share. Starting June 21, the limited edition will be available for three months at Toyota dealerships. The company plans to sell 300 units of the new Corolla variant. It is priced at Rs 11.44 lakh (ex-showroom Chennai).
