GM zeroes in on Maharashtra

General Motors has reached an agreement with the Maharashtra Government to set up its second plant at the Talegaon Industrial Estate, near Pune.

The automaker, which aims to garner a 10 per cent share of the domestic market by 2010, plans to roll out the Daewoo Matiz under the Chevy Spark brand. GM is expected to start manufacturing of the car at its Halol facility by March 2007 and then shift production to its upcoming facility near Pune.
