ITC has announced its plans to invest Rs 1,540 crore in the next two years to expand production capacity for paperboards and specialty papers. NTPC has proposed the establishment of a nationwide power exchange as a separate company with an authorised capital of around $500 million (approximately Rs 2,250 crore). Nagarjuna Construction Company has bagged three orders worth Rs 370 crore for water supply and construction projects from various sources. Punj Lloyd has received a letter of intent from Horizon Terminals of UAE for the expansion of a bulk liquid products terminal in Singapore. The contract is valued at $32 million (approximately Rs 144 crore). Ranbaxy has tied up with the European insurance major, AEGON, to float life insurance and asset management joint ventures in India. Atlanta has announced its intention to set up a special economic zone for engineering firms in Gujarat along with Ahmedabad-based NG Realty. Gateway Distriparks has been selected to operate and manage the Punjab Government's container freight station (CFS) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port for a period of 15 years. Thermax has announced its plans to set up a plant in China for manufacturing absorption chillers with an investment of $ 8 million (approximately Rs 36 crore). Taj-GVK Hotels has announced its plan to develop two more properties in Hyderabad, while investing about Rs 100 crore in its existing property for renovation and expansion. Lanco Infratech has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Jharkhand Government for a 2640 MW mega coal-based power plant. Genus Overseas Electronics had bagged an order worth Rs 75 crore from Rajasthan State Electricity Board to supply energy meters. Sobha Developers has won a contract worth Rs 23.21 crore to build a plant near Chennai for personal computer maker Dell's Indian arm. Unity Infraprojects has secured a contract worth Rs 17.1 crore from Life Insurance Corporation for its insurance educational institute in Mumbai. Pantaloon Retail has announced its plans to set up its lifestyle retail store `Central' at Chennai.
