With the US sub-prime crisis snowballing into concerns about a global liquidity squeeze, the Sensex tracked its Asian peers losing nearly 5 per cent on the week. Global cues will continue to be key next week.

If the Japanese yen continues to gain more strength against the US dollar, this may have implications for carry trades. Expect more volatility in domestic markets, if the yen continues to strengthen. The August 23 Bank of Japan meet ing assumes significance in this light.

Shares of recent IPOs — Refex Refrigerants (August 20), Central Bank of India (August 21) would be listed on the bourses this week.
