Sundaram BNP Paribas Mutual Fund has launched Sundaram BNP Paribas Financial Services Opportunities an open-ended equity scheme. The scheme will be primarily focus on opportunities in the financial services space.

The investment universe may include stocks from banking, broking, wealth management, insurance, asset management and other financial services. As a thematic fund, the portfolio may not be as a diversified as a typical equity fund. The portfolio manager will adopt an active management style to optimise returns.

Asset allocation will be in equity and equity related instruments of predominantly Indian companies relevant to the theme 65-100 per cent. Investment outside the theme will be 0-35 per cent and fixed income and money market instruments 0-15 per cent. The minimum application amount is Rs 5,000 and multiples of Re 1.

The investment in overseas securities shall be in accordance with SEBI rules. Investment in ADRs/GDRs issued by Indian or foreign companies, equity of overseas companies listed on recognised stock exchanges overseas. The fund’s Indian securities are managed by Mr J. Venkatesan and overseas securities by Mr Vijayendiran.The fund will charge an entry load of 2.25 per cent for investment up to Rs 2 crore.The NFO closes on May 14.

Sundaram BNP Paribas is launching Sundaram BNP Paribas Select Thematic Fund Entertainment Opportunities. This thematic scheme will primarily focus on opportunities in the entertainment business India. It may also invest in overseas securities that fall under the ambit of the entertainment theme.

As a thematic fund, the portfolio may not be as diversified as a typical equity fund. The fund’s investment universe may also include players in spaces such as broadcasting, content providers, electronic news, print media, and multipliex and web-based services.

Asset allocation in the targeted sector/theme will be 65-100 per cent. Other then theme will be 0-35 per cent. Fixed income and money market instruments will be 0-15 per cent. The minimum application amount is Rs 5,000.The fund will charge an entry load of 2.25 per cent for the investment up to Rs 5 crore.

Mr Satish Ramanathan manages the fund. The overseas securities are managed by Mr Vijayendiran.
