RBI relaxes norms for housing loans

The Reserve Bank of India has relaxed the lending norms for residential properties up to Rs 30 lakh by co-operative banks. The risk provisioning, which was earlier 75 per cent for the loan value between Rs 20 and Rs 30 lakh, has been reduced to 50 per cent. The move is expected to make available additional funds with the urban co-operative banks to lend to the housing sector.
