Heading towards... ?

This refers to the cover story, Where are they heading? (May 20). The article made an interesting reading.

The author, Anjali Prayag, has been proved right in the recently released CBSE results, where, as usual, the girls have outperformed boys. But there are certain factors that prove to be a major hurdle in their further progress.

Our conservative mindset does not allow women to step out to have full-fledged careers of their own. And it is these women who are always forced to make sacrifices - career or otherwise.

But women should try to overcome all these barriers and follow the examples of personalities such as Indira Nooyi, Chokila Iyer, Arundathi Roy, Nirupama Rao and others.
