Human Resources Columns - Life watch A winning deal Anjali Prayag
In this highly competitive business scenario, demanding and highly discerning customers are difficult to please and what can win the deal in one's favour is good communication with the client. Last week, Wipro took a step in this direction. On November 12, 2002 members of the Wipro Toastmasters Club became chartered members of Toastmasters International, the US-based parent body that trains people in public speaking and has more than 1,75,000 members across 70 countries. Toastmaster's International is a non-profit organisation whose main objective is to help members polish their public speaking skills and develop their leadership qualities in the process critical skills whether in one's personal or professional life. Being chartered members of the international organisation will benefit member Wiproites by enabling them to start or continue with various projects of the Toastmasters Club, no matter where in the world they originated. The chartered member also gets the benefit of receiving a $45 magazine that talks about the various facets of communication. Ian Faria, District Governor, Toastmasters International, Bangalore, handed over the certificate of chartership to the President of Wipro ToastmastersClub.
