For theatre buffs

Rina Chandran

McDowell's, UB Group's spirits division, recently launched the McDowell's Signature Theatre Fest in Bangalore, which showcased three Mumbai productions: I do, I don't, directed by Dinyar Contractor and produced by Paritosh Painter, The Blue Mug, directed by Atul Kumar and produced by The Company Theatre, and Games People Play, directed by Raell Padamsee and produced by Ace Productions.

The first play is a romantic comedy, the second an experimental production, and the third comprised two single-act plays. The cast included well-known theatre names as Delnaaz Paul, Farhaan Khan, Rajat Kapoor, Niloufer Fernandez, Soni Razdan and Aly Khan. The plays were staged at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall over three weekends.

McDowell's, which has had a long association with lifestyle sporting events such as motorcar racing, the Derby and polo, plans to make the Theatre Festival an annual feature in the Garden City.
