International Travel Specially for students
International Student Identity Card (ISIC) has introduced exclusive travel packages for students travelling abroad through the offices of the Student Travel Information Centre (STIC). The package can be obtained by any student, 12 years and above, at any of the 43 STIC offices across the country. Besides discounts on books, food and shopping across 50,000 outlets worldwide, the ISIC card enables students to avail of special package fares in association with STA Travel, the largest student and youth travel organisation in the world. The fare to Europe is more than 35 per cent cheaper than the market fare and over 40 per cent lesser than the US and Canada fares. The special fare for Europe is Rs 15,700 against the market fare of Rs 24,500; the US and Canada (East Coast) Rs 20,649 (Rs 34,750); the US and Canada (West Coast) Rs 23,472 (Rs 41,615); New Zealand Rs 21,562 (Rs 31,425); Australia Rs 21,562 (Rs 30,830); South-East Asia Rs 11,396 (Rs 14,410); and Russia and CIS nations Rs 12,972 (Rs 16,845). The package also includes special baggage allowance of up to 40 kg for Europe and three pieces to the US and Canada. There are also special discounts on suitcases in luggage stores in India and on international phone calls. Other benefits include a free 24-hour international helpline, e-mail and a virtual safe facility. The package also has a foreign exchange tie-up with Travelex, designed to meet the forex needs of student travellers. There is also a lucky draw, towards the end of the year, for any student flying on Emirates under the ISIC travel package, entitling the winner to a free return ticket to New York which can also be transferred to a family member. Further details can be obtained from the ISIC Web site: www.isicweb.net or through e-mail: info@isicweb.net.
