Radio/TV Variety - Travel & Places Cable Watch
If you’ve always wanted to read Patricia Schultz’s best-selling travel book, 1000 places to see before you die, and never got around to getting a copy, catch Discovery Travel & Living’s new series with the same name. It takes viewers around 13 magic places around the world, including Peru, Alaska, India, Cambodia, Brazil, South Africa, France and Italy. In these episodes the popular show hosts Melanie and Albin Ulles unravel the beauty and mystique of interesting locations. In India (to be telecast on November 16), apart from the usual visits to the Taj Mahal, Bahai Temple etc, they take a rickshaw ride through Delhi’s bustling streets, and also get henna tattoos in a Delhi bazaar!
Selected from close to 1,000 couples, the newlyweds did this whirlwind journey to over 13 countries. “The Ulles also discover local hole-in-the-wall favourites, like the colourful Peruvian restaurant Songoro Sasongo, where the staff teaches diners native dances as they enjoy the cuisine,” says a Discovery press release. It adds that they “agreed to leave their jobs and day-to-day life” to do this series. Well, when the work involves stomping grapes at an Italian vineyard, riding ostriches in South Africa, gambling the night away in ritzy Monaco or panning for real gold in the Yukon, who would complain? The couple were on a five-month, all-expenses paid trip. The episodes will be telecast on Travel & Living on Fridays (8 p.m.) in November and December. More Stories on : Radio/TV | Travel & Places
